Before Mrs. Zuege became a teacher at Chase County Schools, she was a K-12 art teacher, class sponsor, and the sponsor for the yearbook at Byers, Colorado.

“My first year of teaching was overwhelming. I had so much to do I can’t even remember doing it all,” Zuege said.

Now that she has had more years of experience, Zuege feels anticipation for each part of the school year.

“I’m excited because it’s something new, and it’s a new year,” Zeuge said. “I’m always ready for summer because I like the seasons and how school goes with that; it’s time to spend time with the family and it’s baseball season,” Zuege said.

Zuege said she enjoys spending time with her students, and admitted that it’s always hard to say goodbye to the seniors.

“It’s bittersweet. I’m happy for them, but I miss them at the same time,” Zuege said.

No matter how much a teacher likes her job, there are always those days. Whenever students misbehave, Zuege said she tries to use patience.

“I kind of count to myself,” she said. “I think to myself, breath in and breath out. I say to myself, ‘This kid could have had a hard day. I just need to step back.”
