Freshman Matalie Wallin was given the opportunity of a lifetime in the previous month. Omaha Fashion Week (OFW) is a fashion show held Feb. 24 through Mar. 2 in Omaha, Neb. It showcases different designers and what and why they design. Every night of the showcase has a different theme.

The theme Matalie was involved in was High School Designers. She also modeled in this sector last year. Some other themes include Cancer Survivor Night, a Bridal Themed Night, and many more. There are no age limits on modeling, Matalie met girls ages 10 to 25 who were showcasing their pieces. She modelled her piece on Feb. 26.

“This year I modeled high-waisted, blue, floral pants that were very flowy and had a tie detail around the waist,” Matalie said. “The top was a sleeveless white V-neck top. I had the most trouble sewing the top because the pattern that I used had a peplum detail that I didn’t want. Therefore, altering the pattern was something I had to do on my own. I also had to make many alterations on the finished piece because it did not fit the way it was supposed to.”

Matalie enjoyed OFW more this year than last and plans on applying next year also.
